In this competitive world, employees, particularly those in the IT industry, face various kinds of stress. Here, I am suggesting an early morning trip to a nearby place to relax and feel soothed. This activity needs only 1 to 1.5 hr on average. Points to remember are listed below.
Before the Trip
- Go to bed early. Turn off mobile data and Wi-Fi to avoid distractions.
- Wake up and finish your morning essentials calmly.
- Have a light refreshment like tea and a few cookies (optional, but enjoyable! 😉)
During the Trip
- Start your ride after sunrise, when there’s enough daylight.
- Take a bike or car ride to the nearest nature-filled spot—a riverside, lake, quiet park, or forest path.
- Go alone, if possible, to truly disconnect.
- Wear comfortable walking clothes and shoes.
- Bring a charged mobile and Bluetooth headset—but do not turn on mobile data.
At the Location
- Park safely and begin a slow 15-minute walk.
- Pay attention to your surroundings: the chirping birds, cool breeze, and the gentle sounds of flowing water.
- Then, wear your headset and listen to soothing audio—a song, meditation, or in my case, Qur’an recitations by peaceful voices like Islam Subhi, Ahmad bin Ali Al-Ajmi, or Abdul Rahman Al-Sudais.
- Continue walking for another 15 minutes, fully immersing yourself in the beauty of the morning and its natural rhythm.
The Result
After about 30 minutes of mindful walking, you’ll feel refreshed, focused, and energised—both mentally and physically.
Make It a Habit
Turn this into a weekly or even daily ritual for lasting impact. To keep things fresh, try different locations now and then.
I’d love to hear your favorite techniques for de-stressing. Let’s learn from each other. Thank you!
